Marlborough Mt Everest Challenge

The ‘Marlborough Mount Everest Challenge’ for 2023 is under way! The Challenge is a run/walk event where the goal is to travel the elevation of Mount Everest (8800 m) in the time that it took Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953 (7 weeks). We aim to encourage local people to not only utilise the amazing local walking tracks that Marlborough has to offer, but to get fit while doing so. The tracks chosen will allow participants to accomplish the goal by running or walking the Tirohanga track 36 times or the Mt Vernon Track 25 times during the 7 week period for the event.
You can do it solo or as part of a team to help motivate each other. Get your family, friends and work colleagues to join your team. Put the challenge out there and see what you and your team can achieve.

FreshChoice Picton Rainbow Run

Owing to field maintenance, the Rainbow Run has had to be cancelled for 2023.
Watch this space for details of our 2024 Rainbow Run.
The Run is not a race it is just a chance to walk or run along with your family and friends, get a bit messy and have a laugh while our team douses you with lots and lots of rainbow colours. Make your way around the 1.5km course or go around the course twice to cover 3km. Light coloured clothing and eye protection (sunglasses, goggles etc) are recommended for the best time.

Once everyone has completed the course there will be a countdown to a synchronised colour powder throw, a great end to the party atmosphere.

Things to remember:
-Dress in clothes that you don’t mind getting coloured
-Bring some eye protection (glasses, goggles etc)

- Participants will be released in waves from the start line at 11:00am.
- Cancellation will only be in the event of severe weather, the final decision being made by the event management. Only upon these circumstances, will refund will be provided. This decision would be made on the morning of the event.
